Yesterday at dusk, there was a huge storm in
southern Ontario, but I didn’t notice anything to the amazement of my friends.
I was so distracted doodling in the kitchen with the fan on that its noise
drowned out the thunder. Alerts kept
coming in and friends were messaging to ask if there was much damage in my
neighbourhood. None as far as I knew at the time. Much later I realized that there had been a lot of damage in different parts of the city.
Recreating the doodles of my youth was like
stepping into a time machine and they ended up being like a cocoon that sheltered me from the storm.
