This is my version of a beach painting I saw on the internet and it’s where I am planning to spend at least one week at the end of the month.

I would like all my daily readers to participate in this puzzle.  However, it’s okay if you don’t.  I will not be upset at all. I will just stop visiting you. 

Rules:

1.      1. Write only the name of the city where you think this beach is located. Nothing else. Just the name of the city. No explanation needed.

2.     2.  DO NOT write a comment telling me you are busy, you can’t do it, bla, bla, bla.

3.      3. And DO NOT comment just to tell me you are passing by to say hi.

Vamos fazer algo diferente hoje.

Esta é a minha versão de uma pintura de praia que vi na internet e onde estou a planear passar, pelo menos, uma semana no fim do mês.

Gostaria que todos os meus leitores e leitoras assíduos participassem neste desafio, mas não faz mal se não o fizerem. Não vou ficar nada “chateada”. Apenas vou deixar de os visitar.

Regras:

1. Escrevam apenas o nome da cidade onde acham que esta praia fica localizada. Mais nada. Apenas o nome da cidade. Sem explicações.

2. NÃO comentem para me dizer que estão ocupados, que não conseguem chegar ao resultado, blá, blá, blá.

3. NÃO comentem só para me dizer que estão de passagem para me cumprimentar.

Deixem-me dizer-lhes, e isto é uma promessa: se participarem e se cumprirem estas regras tão, mas tão simples, serei seguidora do vosso blog para sempre! : )

 

 

Há umas semanas, vi uma pintura na internet como esta e fiquei absolutamente encantada. A pintura que estão a ver é a minha própria versão, que fiz depois de confirmar que existem várias recriações em quase todas as plataformas, visto que este estilo é completamente à prova de principiantes! Ao utilizar uma perspectiva de cima para baixo, elimina-se a linha do horizonte, que é tão difícil de pintar. Li algures que "este estilo é incrivelmente permissivo, uma vez que as pinceladas desordenadas e caóticas só fazem com que as ondas do oceano a rebentar pareçam mais realistas". Ao ler isto, senti uma grande alegria; ao fim e ao cabo sou naturalmente "desordenada" quando pinto e tenho "pinceladas caóticas". Enquanto há algumas semanas pensava que estas pinceladas eram um sinal da minha inexperiência, agora faço-as de propósito. Quanto mais desordenada está a pintura, melhor. Embora as sombrinhas pareçam incrivelmente simples, tive um pouco de dificuldade em dividi-las em fatias de pizza perfeitas. Mas a questão principal é esta: Não há perspetiva, não há horizonte, não há fundo nem primeiro plano. Seria difícil borrar a pintura!! Como disse, quanto mais desordenado, melhor, porque é exatamente assim que são os oceanos e a areia.

I was absolutely enchanted when I first saw a painting like this a few weeks ago. The one I am showing here is actually my own version, which I based on that style after realizing why it’s everywhere: it is completely beginner-proof!

By using a top-down view, it eliminates the horizon line that is so difficult to paint.  I read somewhere that “it’s incredibly forgiving since messy, chaotic brushstrokes only make the crashing ocean waves look more realistic.”  Reading this made me very, very happy because I am naturally “messy” when I paint and have “chaotic brushstrokes”.  While just a few weeks ago I thought those strokes were a sign of my inexperience, now I make them on purpose, and I like it. The messier, the better.

Even though the umbrellas look incredibly simple, I had a bit of a tough time dividing them into perfect pizza slices.

But the bottom line is this: There is zero perspective. There is no horizon. There is no background or foreground to mess up. Like I said, the messier, the better, because that is exactly what real oceans and sand look like anyway.

Democratization of Healthcare

The first telerobotic surgery in the United States was done last Sunday between two Florida hospitals at a distance of more than 50 km from each other. It was a prostatectomy on a 66-year-old man that was successful.
Although the surgeon, Dr. Patel, was far away, the patient was not alone in the operating room. A medical team stayed by his side during the operation in case any connection or technical problem occurred.
This procedure was part of a rigorous clinical study authorized by the FDA. This way, patients who live in remote places have access to the best specialists in the world without needing to travel.
In June 2025, the same doctor – Dr. Patel – successfully performed 10 transcontinental robotic surgeries operating from Orlando (USA) on real patients who were in Luanda (Angola) about 11,000 kilometers away. Even crossing the Atlantic Ocean through submarine fiber optic cables, the average latency obtained in these tests was only 146 milliseconds.
And that's how, through telesurgeries, healthcare is democratized.

A primeira cirurgia telerobótica nos Estados Unidos foi feita no domingo passado entre dois hospitais da Florida, a uma distância de mais de 50 km de distância entre si.  Tratou-se de uma prostatectomia num homem de 66 anos que foi bem sucedida.

Embora o cirurgião, o Dr. Patel, estivesse longe, o paciente não estava sozinho na sala de operações. Uma equipa médica permaneceu ao seu lado durante a intervenção, caso ocorresse algum problema técnico ou de ligação.

Este procedimento fez parte de um estudo clínico rigoroso autorizado pela FDA.  Desta forma, os pacientes que vivem em locais remotos têm acesso aos melhores especialistas do mundo sem terem necessidade de viajar.

Em junho de 2025, o mesmo médico – o Dr. Patel – realizou com sucesso dez cirurgias robóticas transcontinentais, operando a partir de Orlando (EUA) em pacientes reais que estam em Luanda (Angola) a cerca de 11 000 quilómetros de distância.  Mesmo cruzando o Oceano Atlântico através de cabos submarinos de fibra ótica, a latência média obtida nesses testes foi de apenas 146 milissegundos.

E assim, através das telecirurgias, se democratiza a saúde.

 

Procriação ou Produção em Massa?

Um homem afegão, de 57 anos, casado com quatro mulheres, teve mais de 70 filhos, dos quais 58 ainda estão vivos.

As raparigas que se tornariam mulheres dele tinham entre 13 e 16 anos.

Ele confirma que não se lembra dos nomes de todos os filhos.

A família vive na pobreza e só agora ele se apercebe de que ter tantos filhos não foi uma boa decisão.

É um arrependimento (se assim se pode considerar) tardio que não vai aliviar a pobreza nem o sofrimento emocional destas dezenas de filhos.

A 57-year-old Afghan man, married to four women, has fathered over 70 children, 58 of whom are still alive.

The girls who became his wives were between 13 and 16 years old.

He admits that he cannot remember all of his children’s names.

The family lives in poverty, and he is only now realizing that having so many children was not a good idea.

This regret comes too late to relieve the poverty and the emotional suffering of these dozens of children.
