Landline Cultural Shock
I had visitors today. My treasures – a 6-year-old boy and a nearly 2-year-old girl – are on vacation and spent the day with me and their parents.
At one point during the day, my landline phone rang.
The children immediately stopped what they were doing. They looked around and
then at us with questioning expressions.
"Is that a phone ringing?" asked the older
one.
They jumped out of their seats and searched for the
phone on every table and in every corner of the living room and kitchen, never once
glancing at the walls. The one in the kitchen is fixed to the wall and is
wireless.
The girl, naturally, also wanted hers. I went to my
office to get the other wireless one. I took the opportunity to show them two
more models from the "Stone Age," with wires, on top of the
bedside tables of two bedrooms.
They preferred the wireless models and stayed there
talking on the phone, going back and forth. The boy quickly learned to call his
maternal grandparents and us, engaging in long conversations. The girl mumbled
her own conversation, but we never found out who she was talking to.
Who would have thought that one of the greatest joys
of a vacation day would be the discovery of telephones from the Mesozoic Era?
Choque Tecnológico: a descoberta dos telefones fixos (com e sem fios).
Tive visitas hoje.
Os meus tesouros - o garoto de 6 anos e a miúda de quase 2 - estão de férias e
passaram o dia comigo, juntamente com os pais.
A certa altura, o meu telefone fixo tocou. Os miúdos pararam imediatamente o que estavam a
fazer. Olharam em redor e depois para nós com um ar interrogativo.
- É um telefone a
tocar? - perguntou o mais velho.
Sairam a correr dos
seus lugares e procuraram pelo telefone por todas as mesas e recantos da sala e
da cozinha, nunca olhando para as paredes. O da cozinha está fixado na parede
e não tem fio.
A miúda, naturalmente, também quis o dela. Fui ao meu escritório buscar o outro sem fio. Aproveitei a ocasião para lhes mostrar mais dois modelos de linha fixa com fios, que estão em cima das mesinhas de cabeceira de dois quartos.
Preferiram os modelos
sem fios e por ali andaram a conversar ao telefone de um lado para o outro. O
rapaz aprendeu rapidamente a ligar para os avós maternos e para nós, mantendo
diálogos longos. A menina ia balbuciando a sua própria conversa, mas não
ficámos a saber com quem.
Quem diria que uma
das maiores diversões de um dia de férias seria a descoberta de telefones da Era
dos Dinossauros?

EliminarComo nunca atendo os telefones fixos e como não tocam com frequência, os miúdos nunca se aperceberam da existência destes aparelhos em algumas das divisões da casa.
O meu fixo é móvel, mas só tenho um e ninguém me liga.

O telemóvel está praticamente sempre comigo. É o meu segundo apêndice. Mas também gosto de ter os outros em caso de serem necessários. : )
