Eu sei disso. E, no entanto, passei parte do meu dia a ver TV.

Então, concentrei-me numa coisa boa que aconteceu hoje.

The media have the propensity to focus on negative news. You know that. I know that. And yet, I spent part of my day watching TV. I needed to hear about the crisis that our health-care system is going through at the moment and I wanted to know what the provincial and federal governments are going to do about it.

Watching too much TV was a big mistake. It had a psychological impact on me… and not a good one obviously.

So, I focused on a good thing that happened today.

In the morning, I went to the bakery of the local supermarket to buy bread. Then, very casually, I asked the baker if she had, by any chance, peach pies. And she said, “As a matter of fact I do. They are still warm”.

I’ve traveled far and wide in search of peach pies – unsuccessfully I might add – and today, it was the first day – as far as I understood – that the bakery of the local supermarket started baking peach pies. : ))

Please, tell me a good thing that happened to you today, something that made you happy. : )

Fiquei a cogitar.

The President of Portugal said that “There are no pure Portuguese”.

It made me think.

I was not born in Canada, but I am a Canadian citizen and travel with a Canadian passport.

I am not “pure Canadian”, but I always considered myself “pure Portuguese”.

Do I have Moorish ancestry? Does my ancestry include heroes or heroines of great deeds? Or maybe royalty...

I guess I will never know...

Peach puff pastries of all shapes and sizes

I went to the Farmer’s Market to buy a peach pie.

The couple who sells pies was not there today.

I was told they went to Iceland for a few days.

Good for them!

 Shrinkflation - Reduflação

Sourdough bread – Pão de massa lêveda

Last week, the sourdough bread I bought was bigger than this one. Price: 3.99.

I was informed that the bigger size had been discontinued.

I asked if the price “had been discontinued” as well.

No, the price remains the same, 3.99!

Can 3.99 = 3,06 Euros.

Numa quinta

At a farm

Eu queria comprar uma tarte de pêssego.

A M. queria apanhar batatas e morangos.

E a A. apenas foi para passear.

I wanted to buy a peach pie.

M. wanted to pick potatoes and strawberries.

And A. just went for the ride.

The peach pies were sold out.

M. left to pick strawberries and potatoes when the sun was highest in the sky. She came back tired, sweaty but happy… She had her potatoes, her strawberries and fresh picked chamomile.

A. and I had waited in the shade.

M. texted me this morning.  “You should see the mosquito bites on my back, chest and cheek. There were bees, flies, mosquitos, spiders. One forgets about this other world with all the creepy crawlies when one lives in the city.”
