Descer as escadas é mais fácil

Going down the stairs is easier

The season’s peak is nearing its end

“It is not enough to stare up the steps – we must step up the stairs”

Temp: 8º C = 46º F

Enjoying breakfast at an hour when the sun hadn’t yet had enough time to warm the air is a pure gift of Nature. It’s Nature bounty.

Wishing you a joyful Thanksgiving!

(This weekend in Canada)

Fall in all its splendor is a sensory season.

We listen to the susurrus of the leaves in a gentle breeze; we hear the crackling of the dry leaves underfoot when we walk a path; we think of richer foods, stews, butternut squash soups; our thoughts turn to apples, pears and grapes.

It’s time to be outside for long periods of time as the weather cools a bit after such a scorching summer.

It’s time to watch squirrels and chipmunks in a hustle and bustle gathering food for the winter.

It's time to be grateful from a place of plenty.

O Tai Chi é a minha praia!

Tai Chi or Meditation in Motion

Tai Chi was initially developed for combat and self-defense. It is considered a form of martial arts, a low impact exercise that improves balance, flexibility, strength and mental well-being.

“Some traditionalists claim that Tai Chi is a purely Chinese art that comes from ancient Taoism and Confucianism.  These schools believe that Tai Chi theory and practice were formulated by Taoist monk Zhan Sanfen in the 12th century.”

Tai Chi was introduced to the West in the mid-20th century and is now a widely known practice across the world, appreciated for its gentle, flowing movements that combine elements of meditation, breathing exercises, and martial arts.

As a beginner I find the movements individually simple. The difficulty arises when I try to coordinate those movements into a smooth continuous flow that involves my entire body. It is complex but very relaxing and meditative.

Tai Chi is right up my alley!
